How to Detangle a Twisted Seat belt?

Step 1: Using the screwdriver or plier, scoop it under the plastic cover where the belt retracts. Move it upward, and it will pop open.

How to Fix a Seat belt Buckle that Won’t Latch?

Though the seat belt mechanism consists of a few components, if the problem is in the functionality, then fixing the issue can be a bit complex. Often you may need professional help, but the below steps might help you to do it yourself.

Step 1: The side panel is where the seat belt mechanism is set. You will find two panels at the bottom edge of the car. One is at the right, and the other one is at the center.

Step 2: Using a screwdriver or plier, you need to lift the clips upward. You will find a small screw there. Use the same screwdriver to unscrew it.

Step 3: Now, from the back seat of the car, remove the side panels to pull out the seat belt mechanism.

Step 4: As you remove the two panels, you will find the seat belt mechanism is securely attached with nuts and bolts. Unscrew them and remove the clip to pull out the mechanism.

Step 5: Now, it’s time to open the mechanism. As the mechanism is secured with pins and plastic caps, remove them using a hex key.

Step 6: As you remove the pins, you will see there is a small box with small clips. Unscrew the clips, and the lid of the box will open.

Step 7: As you open the lid, you will see there are tiny plastic pieces and a spring on the gear. Remove them.

Step 8: You have reached the gear wheel. Now, move the gear clockwise. You can simply do it using your hand. Slowly move it to remove the jam. Now check the belt is moving smoothly.

Step 9: If the belt is retracting freely, you just need to put the pieces, clips, and screws back to reassemble them as it was before.
